Malik Shakur is 4rd generation freed from slavery and 4th generation college educated. His great grandmother was the last slave in his family and first college educated teaching newly ex-slaves to read, write and basic math skills. His paternal grand parents immigrants from Jamaica came to America with Marcus Garvey to help build UNIA. His maternal grandparents freedom fighters worked to knock down the wall of segregation in Baltimore, Maryland to his parent active in the civil right movement and his father a member of the black panther party. His family history has instilled in him that when there is a societal wrong he must not sit and wait for change he must be an active part of it. It’s in his blood to fight for the underdog, to be heard and to do what he can do to bring about change. He believe that we all have difference and those difference give each of us an advantage to grow and learn from one another. There is never a challenge he is not willing to meet if he can make it happen he will. Malik holds a BA in Black & Puerto Rico Studies and BA in Psychology, a MA in Industrial Psychology and a JD with a focus in intellectual Properties
